Vladimir Florentin is a Romanian-born artist based in London and co-founder of Displaced Materials Lab (DML). His practice explores expanded photography, working between sculptural photography, material re-collection, and the shifting landscapes of abandoned sites, urban peripheries, and spaces under transformation.
Graduating with honors from the University of Westminster in 2021, Vladimir’s work is shaped by his ongoing interest in the gentrification of Hackney Wick, alongside broader questions of urban change, memory, and material instability.

Vladimir has worked as a student supervisor at London Art Portfolio, guest speaker at Westminster University,
The University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca (UAD) and recently was awarded residency space in the Setting the Stage: Photography as Object and Prop,
site-specific workshop organised by Felicity Hammond and hosted by Lunigiana Land Art in Mulazzo, Italy.

Vladimir’s works often begin with a drift through peripheral or abandoned spaces, where he photographs textures, structures, and fragments before printing these images onto construction materials. Through cutting, bending, and layering, these photographic surfaces become sculptural forms, compressing urban histories, personal memory, and material debris into something between archive, document, and ruin.

Vladimir is currently the creative lead at Displaced Materials Lab producing new strategies in photographic materiality and innovative interventions for studio projects.
